“A plate of food has a story that goes beyond just farm to table. Whenever I stare at a dish I imagine the chef’s amazing creativity but I also envision the dishwasher standing far back in the kitchen polishing the plates for 8 hours, the prep cook finely chopping tonnes of onions, the line cook ignoring a slight burn on his arm and searing a steak medium rare... There’s so much more than quality ingredients to a dish, there are stories, emotions, passions and a whole different world behind the flavor curtains.”
A philanthropic effort to bring to light the people who toil hard behind the lines of restaurants and bars in form of storytelling. These stories are told via a unique portraiture style photography and through creative writing on our blog. By partnering with interested organizations we create incentive programs, grants and internship opportunities for every individual in this field to provide them with various progress inducing opportunities.
HOW IT WORKS
Storytelling
People working behind The Line are interviewed and encouraged to tell their story. These stories are then told, one per week, on our blog with creative writing and through social media with portraiture photography. People may be selected, can volunteer or nominate others to tell their story.
Tiered Programs
The people whose stories have been told can apply for various programs with our partners and volunteer tie-ups and get a peek into incentives offered. A tier based system will allow them to access and assess what incentive they need the most for their benefit and then apply for the same.
Progress Incentives
People can apply for various incentives as arranged by us through our partners. After an initial transition through tiered programs they can choose or we can select, through counselling the best incentive for them. They may use this for their overall growth in what they seek to do in their life or careers.
